LAR
EPHRATA's history initiated on July, 1st, 1991, when some people
felt the desire to establish an association with the aim of teach
moral and civic and religious values to children removed of the
street or homes destroyed for the alcohol drugs and violence.
Today LAR EPHRATA is an evangelic institution with its own board of directors
which shelters 27 children and it is guided by the Church Baptist
in Embu Guaçu, São Paulo, Brazil.
The Word EPHRATA means "fruitful" and it is another name for bethlehem,
city where Jesus Christ was born. The prophet
Miqueias had augured that there would born the Sir.
"And you, Belém EPHRATA, small rank that between thousand
of Judah, you are that one it will leave me what will be Sir in
Israel, and whose exits are since the old times, since the days
of the eternity". Micah 5:2
The city of Belém also was called EPHRATA and it was the place
that Rachel, wife of Jacob was buried.
After the conquest of Cannã, the place has received a new
name Belém de judá (Rute 1:1) being known as "fruitful"
and "bread's house", indication that the region was fertile.
It was in this same city that Rute, the moabita, found and married
Boaz and its great-grandson Davi was born shepherded the sheep of
its father.
